Limbo In the Midwest

MjAxMy1hZWMzMzE0NjE3OGI1MTZi

I’m restless at the moment. With one paper, journals and one more exam between me and undergrad graduation. My parents will be in town shortly and then I’ll be road-tripping. All sound fun and all are stressing me out.

I’m looking into two manuscript submissions and I’m not sure what to turn into who. Which is stressful. Maybe I’ll get this last paper done tonight so I can put together two chapbooks I would be happy to send out.

I hate and love moving. I hate taking down my good feeling energy. I can already feel it. But I love the idea of change and moving onto a new life. Especially since I’ve lived in this same house for two years now. It’s time to move onto new things (I’m not going to say adventures because…stupid) So the idea of fresh places, a change of scenery sounds wonderful but I hate cleaning, packing, cleaning, hot weather and the never-ending of packing boxes and trying to lift heavy boxes. Which just turns into my ass in the air, loud sounds, cussing and getting no where. (Like bad sex)

Road trip should be fun. I just can’t wait to get over the planning and packing for that as well. Especially because I’m doing most of it. Everyone is so busy it’s hard to meet up with them to work out things and if I don’t get it done…it won’t get done.

So here I am.

But I’m excited because I’ll be in my favorite National Park for my birthday!

Zion!! AHHHHH

But I’m ready. Ready to get home and start making my next move.

I can only take two more weeks of limbo before I say, “fuck this!”

Midwest is calling my name…Sally come drink….Sally come be naked..or just sleep. Yeah lets sleep.

unnamed-4

I have a an hour to kill at the airport and it took all my will to not buy a drink at the bar here. I fought all my will power and common sense that I should buy myself a drink. But I did have to promise myself I can have a few drinks tonight once I’m back in town.

Now lets hope I don’t pass out…I’ve been feeling rather exhausted lately and I’m not sure why. I time finals and the non-stop traveling and working has finally done me in. I cannot wait to just sleep back in my large bed!

Also my little coffee-house and my poetry! I’ve taken two weeks off from writing. not like I haven’t been stewing in some thoughts. Also found a few rather interesting websites as well that will definitely help my work.

Films I watched over my winter break:

*First time being watched (the rest I’ve seen probably too many times)

  • Jaws
  • Lord of the RIngs: The fellowship of the Ring
  • Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
  • Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
  • The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey
  • *The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
  • *Milk
  • *Lincoln
  • *Monsters University
  • Elizabeth: The Golden Age
  • Some Like it Hot
  • Sound of Music
  • *Wolverine
  • *Star Trek: Into Darkness
  • Elf

I’m also in the process of buying a few more books. These last few days I’ve been looking over books I may want to buy and I think I’ve almost made my final decision.

Without a doubt I’ll be buying Saints and Strangers by Andrew Hudgins

I’m also thinking about The Red Tent, The Beauty Myth, Cinderella Ate my Daughter, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the NIght-Time, or Delusions of Gender.

I’m looking at a few more as well, but I’m thinking about those books at the moment.

Also I discovered the new love of my life:

Kentucky Orange Blossom

Dear drink, You have given me life in the form of bourbon. Oh gosh I love you.

Note to Self:

Some things will never change.

and I should have learned this years ago. Should have figured this out the first time Thrilla lied to me about the first break up. Should have learned the first time I figured out I was just your back-up. I guess sometimes we just have to learn the hard way. Not like any of this has been very hard, or hurtful. It really hasn’t to be honest. I’m more disappointed in a friend, a guy i thought had finally grown into a man during the years I had been awhile.

I learned this trip that the best sex I’ve ever had still is the same guy I first left behind in California.

I’ve grown up, but he has yet to find any balance. I am disappointed in someone I had such raw sexual energy with and more importantly disappointed in a friend I thought was looking out for me. But now I know. And this portion on my post will be a reminder to myself to never go back. Because fuck being someones back up.

So here we go….Bring it Midwest!

I’m ready.

The Kitchen

Kitchen

The view of the kitchen as you walk out of the dinning room/front down to the house.

Its pretty self-explanatory, but this is the kitchen. We store, cook food and on the occasion after ten shots of tequila I’m drunk on top the kitchen counter. This room has also been labeled by my roommate Valerie the room resembling “college.” As you will notice I did blur out some images. They gave away locations, places, people, etc.

Kitchen

Stairs that lead to the second floor.

The Living Room

Friends in the living room

A night of light drinking
(No that’s not me in the picture, that’s my other red head friend)

The last few weeks I’ve been spending a lot of time in our living room, it’s my favorite place to work on memorizing my poetry. I got to thinking, I’m going to document my house, because I’m going to be moving out in the spring and I’m so sad. I’ve been living here for two years! I love the spirit and energy of this current house so I thought it would only be fitting to document almost every room in the house. (Don’t worry no bathroom documentation)

Facts about my house:

  • I live with four other roommates: One roommate is from the Illinois area and the other three are from California. One is my little brother and one of the Cali kids I went to high school with. Another I ran into a lot during my speech career. These two lovely ladies are Valerie and Tina in my blog.
  • We have 5 bedrooms and two and a half baths.

What I do in the living room:

  • Watch the TV show River Monsters! (My guilty pleasure) My roommates always know I’m watching River Monsters because you’ll hear me scream, “Oh my God!! Look at that fish! Oh my holy moly!”
  • Memorize my poetry
  • Watch The Walking Dead! (We upgraded a cable solely for the inattention to watch The Walking Dead)
  • I’ll read sometimes in the living room
  • Play N64 drinking games and non-drinking games too (I’m not that much of an alcoholic)
  • Movie Nights with the Ladies

Pictures of the Living Room:

Living Room Picture #1

This is obviously a shot of the bookcase. Most of my books are upstairs in my room but I was running out of room so some are down here, along with my roommates books. There is also a lovely Beatles poster and an image of the Slut Walks and you can see a few of our lovely plants!

Living Room Picture #2

The view from the bookcase area. I know, we always have to move the plant so we can watch Tv. You can see two of the three bikes in this picture and one of Valerie’s paintings. (She’s so talented)

Here you can see the bikes a little better and more of Valerie's work that's been put up in the living room.

More plants! We have 6 different plants in the living room. This is to the right of the bookcase.

If you haven't noticed we don't have curtains for this room, we just use the beautiful vines to cover up the windows!
